365

This is my first blog and it is my attempt to take more notice of the world around me. I plan to take a photo a day for 356 days, hopefully it will show that there are interesting things happening around me, and that my life isn't too dull!

Wish me luck.

This little fellow was bought when we went to the Dominican Republic a few years ago. The figure represnts one of the gods worshipped by the original habitants of the Dominican Republic called the Taino. Unfortunately the Taino, like so many races, no longer exist.

The wording inside the card attached to the figure says:

God of the Sun
The God of the Sun comes out of a cave which lies in the territory of the 'cacique' leader Mautiatibuel (child of dawn). Also known as the God of Sunrise, he returns to the cave when the moon comes out.
