Today it was really cold, possibly the coldest it has been this year, but the frost made the area around where i work, look beautiful. There were so many things to take a photo of, that it was really difficult to decide which picture to use, but i decided to use this picture that shows a row of trees completely covered with frost.

This is my first blog and it is my attempt to take more notice of the world around me. I plan to take a photo a day for 356 days, hopefully it will show that there are interesting things happening around me, and that my life isn't too dull!
Wish me luck.
Wish me luck.

This is Coughton Court, home of the Throckmorton family since 1409. It holds a unique place in English history with its close connections to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 (yes i did copy this from the Coughton Court website http://www.coughtoncourt.co.uk/). It is an amazing house, unfortunately, when my partner, my friend, her mum and i got there, we were only able to see the house as the gardens (the main reason we had gone there) were closed. It wasn't clear if the gardens are generally closed through the winter, or if they were just closed to to the recent bad weather.

In recent years the Magic Faraway Tree books have been republished, they have lovely covers and are still very popular with children today, unfortunately, someone somewhere in the world thought it would be better to make the books pc, to do this they have changed the childrens names and in some places removed chapters completely. How ridiculous!! Yes times have changed, but generations of adults grew up reading these book and did it do them any harm? Grrrr! Yes i am having a rant, but these books have such fond memories for me, that i feel really annoyed that they have been tampered with.Unfortunately my copies were given away when i was younger, and i refused to buy the newer versions, so i had to track these down via a famous auction site, and thank's to my partner's fast bidding i was able to get really good quality versions with no inscriptions for a really good price.

Chase is now back with us as she was too noisy with my daughter at uni and spent most of the time chewing the bars of her cage, she took particular interest in them at night, so the decision was made to bring her home, as the lack of sleep was having an impact on my daughter (yes i know there is an irony there as the assumption is that students rarely get much sleep, but that isn't the case when it is the final year). Now, Chase is a fiesty little thing and this pictures sums that attitude up completely!

A friend had recently bought a book about some of the older streets in London and what they used to be called, some of them are not repeatable, but very funny. It got me wondering why certain roads, streets, avenues etc have the names they do, then i spotted this road name, could this have been given this name as it was where Jeremy Fisher used to live?!

A couple of years ago i bought a dragon calendar in an attempt to organise myself, which worked, but then i couldn't find one the year after. Not one to give up, i thought i would try to find one for 2011, and after a number of online searches, i finally found one! If you are looking for a calendar try the Calendar Club www.calendarclub.co.uk14 November 2010

For months my friend and i have planned do the Highgate Graveyard tour, but due to a horribly delayed train journey, i arrived in London too late to get to Highgate in time for their last tour of the day, so our plans are on hold until the 'essential maintenance' to the train line are finished, then we will try again. So, to compensate ourselves, we went to a S&M (sausage and mash) resturant, had something to eat, then headed over to Oxford Street to see the christmas lights, and to look in any shops that took our fancy. The lights this year have a Narnia theme and look amazing, but the displays in the Liberty's window really caught my eye. I'm not sure how jellyfish relate to Christmas, but they look good!12 November 2010

I have a work event to go to in the next few days, and went looking for some new shoes. During my expedition i came across these beautiful turquoise shoes. I have been after some turquoise shoes ever since i saw a Selfridges advert for the Alice in Wonderland display they were showing, the advert featured some turquoise shoes with stripey socks, unfortunately they were slightly out of my price range, so when i saw these, i was very happy. Unfortunately, when i tried them on i couldn't walk in them, and declined from buying them. My search goes on!

I don't know anyone who loves Christmas more than my sister, and i thought i was bad. Anyway as she and her family were coming to stay for the weekend and watch the fireworks (which were going to be tonight but due to rain, we had to rearrange until tomorrow) she bought me an early Christmas pressie, it's nice to know there will be some snowflakes on Christmas day.
