This is my first blog and it is my attempt to take more notice of the world around me. I plan to take a photo a day for 356 days, hopefully it will show that there are interesting things happening around me, and that my life isn't too dull!

Wish me luck.

It feels like it has been raining non stop for a month now, even though it has only been a couple of days and as my leg is still being problematic, i haven't been able to christen my horribly expensive but fabulous umbrella, so for your viewing pleasure here is a photo of my lovely umbrella experiencing some rain in the garden without me underneath it!!

Well i finally did it, i've adopted a panda! It is something i have wanted to do for years but never got around to doing, then inspired by my friend who has fostered two elephants throught the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/ and seeing an advert on the television i finally decided to get my act together and adopt a panda through the World Wildlife Fund http://www.wwf.org.uk/ i am now the proud adoptive parent of a Giant Panda, and i am just waiting for my certificate etc to be delivered (i opted not to recieve the cuddly toy) and i will officially be a panda parent.

24 August 2010

Being as supportive as she is, my best friend sent me a lovely get well soon card and a book to read, but when i opened the card, she had animated my accident. Something tells me she might be giggling at my misfortune!!

23 August 2010

My daughters and i have planned to play 'The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time' for a number of months now since they bought it for me to play on the Wii (it is a Gamecube game that is compatable). Since playing it many years ago when it first came out on the Nintendo 64, Zelda seems to crop up in our lives in some way shape or form, be it a sound, or image etc, it clearly had an impact, so as i am off work, today was the day to play. I'd forgotton how quickly time passes when you are playing Zelda, you look at the clock at one point and it is 8 o'clock, the next time you look it is 1 in the morning!! Good times.

22 August 2010

This is a bit of a 'Where's Wally' photo, but if you look closely, in the middle of the photo is a frog. I knew there were frogs (and other wildlife) in the garden, but haven't had the opportunity to take a photograph of one yet, until now.

21 August 2010

My neighbour bought me some lillies to cheer me up after my little accident, it has taken a few days for them to open up, but now they have and the smell from them are amazing. It's just a shame the weather outside isn't as nice.

20 August 2010

As amazing as this tree looks, it's days are numbered. Since we moved in just over a year ago there have been no leaves or blossom on it, and pieces of branch are constantly falling off. The birds seem to be permenantly perched in it, but i'm sure even they will appreciate a living tree, although i'm not in any hurry to chop it down as the bark on it is still impressive.

19 August 2010

Having two very creative daughters is very rewarding. Here are three masks that my youngest daughter made and has worn to various different events. They also look amazing on display.

18 August 2010

As a couple of my more recent photos have been less than pleasant, i thought i would brighten things up with a photo of some lovely sunflowers that were bought for me by a friend. i also have some lillies, but they are a photo for another day as they are yet to open.

17 August 2010

It has been a few days now since i fell through the ceiling and my leg has swelled to it's full size and the bruising has taken over most of my thigh (as well as bruising on my arm, opposite leg, shin and foot). Getting about is still problematic as my leg throbs unbelievably and the bruised area is so tender that the slightest touch has me wincing. On a positive note, i've seen all episodes of Spaced, watched a number of different films, managed to get through part of my backlog of Grazia, finished my book and eaten my way through so much junk that i may actually start eating salad soon!

16 August 2010

Meet Percy. As i was so distraught at missing the duck race on Saturday my daughter bought me my very own rubber duck. I have named him Percy, but this might change as my youngest reminded me that that was the name of the incrediably unpleasant prison guard in the Green Mile.

15 August 2010

Well, my leg has swelled up pretty badly and it is so tender that the slightest touch has me wincing in pain. The colours of the bruise are starting to come through and it is covering most of my thigh, walking is a particular issue, so my family are running around after me, unfortunately Chase (the rabbit) hadn't understood that my leg was in bad shape, and jumped up onto me and landed straight on the sore area, which to be honest isn't that hard to miss!! I'm not sure if he jumped off quicker at hearing my scream or if i jumped quicker at feeling the pain!

Anyway, here is the photographic evidence on the hole in the ceiling, with loose plaster still intact. It has now added and additional job to an already big list of things to do around the house. On a positive note, i didn't trash my Ecco boots or ripe my Next leggins, so i can recommend buying Ecco boots and Next leggins!

14 August 2010

Today was the day of the duck race and i was really excited. My partner and i were ready to go, and i was just opening the curtains when i fell through the floor! We had been doing some work on the house and a couple of floor boards had been taken up in the bedroom, i had completely forgotten about them, and hadn't been watching where i was putting my foot. Thankfully i didn't break my leg which was my first though, but it was more pain than i had felt in a very long time. Also, nobody was underneath where i had put my foot through the front room ceiling, otherwise there would have been more than one casualty.

The worst thing is though as i was in so much pain and couldn't walk properly, i had to miss the duck race, poor me. To console myself I'd like to think it was called off, not because i wasn't there, but because the weather was so terrible, and i know that ducks (especially rubber ones) love rain, as the saying goes, but i think that even they would have struggled with the weather today.

Anyway, over the next few days we will see just how much my leg swells up and how many colours of the rainbow it will go!

13 August 2010

There is a Damson tree at the bottom of the garden and the fruit on it is just beginning to ripen. The colour of the fruit as it is, is amazing, but on the other side they are still green. Hopefully from this point it won't take too long for them to ripen fully.

12 August 2010

Some days there are so many things to take photos of, unfortunately i usually see them when i am driving, for example today i saw a rainbow, and then two ducks crossing a road at a pedestrian crossing! So in the asbence of these photos, meet Almond and Pecan. These two Beanies have been everywhere with us since they were bought for my daughters over ten years ago, they even came on holiday with us this year. If either of these two were lost, i know there would be two heartbroken girls.

11 August 2010

As you can see most of the buds on this bush have died back, but this flower is standing out loud and proud, so i just had to take a photo of it.

Sometimes you come across something that you know would be the perfect present for a friend, and this is one of those times. I have no idea if the book is any good, but my friend would love it just because it has Fairy Godmother in the title!

9 August 2010

Believe it or not, but this is part of a mushroom. A friend visited after delivering the rest of it to his brother. I wish he had have brought the whole thing for my partner and i to see first, but alas he didn't so we only have this section as proof.

8 August 2010

Fairy cake and edible glitter what better combination could there be? Well there is, a chocolate fairy cake with raspberries, icing and edible glitter!! And yes, it tasted just as good as it looked.

7 August 2010

Originally i thought this flower was a weed, but i have noticed that they are appearing in gardens everywhere. I took this photo to log the flower for my garden journal, but then noticed a hoverfly on it and thought it would be a good photo for this blog.

6 August 2010

I have four primula that were dug up out ofthe front garden, two purple, one gold and the other is yellow. They have already flowered this year, but are now flowering again.

5 August 2010

After getting home at the same time as my partner, and opening the door to the sound of him asking me what we were going to have to tea, i had the niceset surprise as my eldest daughter had cooked tea and served it up just as we walked in. It was salmon, with pan fried potatoes, onions and homemade hollandaise sauce. It was perfect.

4 August 2010

These are allium, alliums are one of my favorite flowers, and even when they have finished flowering and dried out that are interesting. They come in a variety of colours and different heights. When i get a chance to sort out my own garden there will be plenty of alliums throughout.

3 August 2010

Toadstools always get the imagination going, the fairy tales i read as a child clearly had an impact on the way my mind works. There is something magical about toadstools and after taking this photo i couldn't help but wonder where Absalom was.

2 August 2010

I really hope the final installment of Shrek is better than the third, although i have to admit, although the third isn't as good as the first two, there is a scene on the boat where Shrek thinks he has woken up that makes me laugh more than anything in the first two. I can't wait to see why Puss in Boots is wider than he had been previously!

Here is the offending memory card. Within this tiny thing are the photos from the first few days of our holiday, so far two specialists have looked at it and come to the same conclusion, there problem is not a formatting issue, the memory card is damaged. How is it that something so small can cause so much heartache.

31 July 2010

It was my best friend's birthday this weekend and as she lives in London, my partner and i headed off to visit her. For her birthday i bought her a memory box and a purple journal with a purple ribbon so that she can carry it with her and write down things that inspire her (she has always loved to write and is currently working her way through a writing course where she regularly achieve's 100%).

It was an amazing day, she had found a little cafe in Crouch End where you are served hot chocotale in bowls the size of big tea cups, your food is served on mis-matched china plates and you get bread served in a small flower pot. It was fantastic and we were like little kids in a toy shop. Talking of toy shops, we then went to Hamleys, a place i have never been to, it was manic, and there were so many toys to see, i even got squirted with a water pistol by one of the assistants! We then went to Carnaby Street, for a place that is so famous it has a really chilled out feel to it. We had a potter around the shops, but then headed for a diner to get milkshakes (which turned into milkshakes, burgers and fries!). We then headed over to Green Park, the weather had been so good, that it would have been a shame to waste an opportunity to walk around the park, and look at Buckingham Palace.

We got back to my friend's place at around 10.30 (did i say she lives in a turret?!), so headed straight off as we knew it would take a while to get home, then on the way home we saw lights in the sky that were unexplainable, could there really be aliens watching us?
