This is my first blog and it is my attempt to take more notice of the world around me. I plan to take a photo a day for 356 days, hopefully it will show that there are interesting things happening around me, and that my life isn't too dull!

Wish me luck.

24 January 2011

It's cold outside at the moment, so i am resorting to taking photographs indoors! This picture of a bag i bought for my daughter at christmas along with some fairy lights from the same range. All hail Paperchase http://www.paperchase.co.uk/

23 January 2011

I'm doing my bit for the local bird population. No longer content with the fat balls (as you can see they have hardly been touched), the birds now prefer the suet block. It all sounds disguisting, but it certainly encourages the birds!

22 January 2011

It's still cold, so cold that the water in this pot has frozen solid, it makes a nice pattern though.

21 January 2011

Finally the evenings are getting lighter.

20 January 2011

This tree has had berries on it throughout the winter time. It stands out from a distance as there are so many berries on it and because they have such a vibrant colour.

19 January 2011

Yep, it's cold, even the leaves have frozen, so much so that they crunch under foot.

18 January 2011

My partner and i went out for a walk quite late this night, it was freezing and i hadn't thought to take my gloves and my fingers were frozen by the time we got home. It was so cold that the frost was visable everywhere including the roof of the car, unless of course it was fairy dust!

17 January 2011

New life and colour is starting to show itself again in the gardens even though the weather is still really cold, these pink buds on the Viburnum will eventually turn into small white flowers.

16 January 2011

Noughts and Crosses in 3D! This doesn't get played very ofter, but it looks good on the shelf.

15 January 2011

More shoots are coming up, this time they are daffodils, not one of my favorite flowers, in fact i think they are a plague, but at least they brighten up the area.

14 January 2011

Only six months overdue, but after putting my foot and leg (which is still bruised and tender) through the ceiling my partner finally patched up the hole, now it looks like a trap door!

13 January 2011

It's been dull and rainy lately, but you can just about see the sun trying to get through the clouds. Even without the sun, the light coming through the tree still looks impressive.

12 January 2011

This is a close up of a Terminator mug that is too big to be used a a dringing mug, so it currently sits on the shelf as a pen holder staring down anyone brave enough to borrow a pen!

11 January 2011

The plant world is definately getting ready for spring, buds are appearing everywhere.

10 January 2011

It may still be January and the frosts are around, but that doesn't stop shoots popping up here and there. These shoots belong to Bluebells, so it will be a while before they flower, but worth the wait.

9 January 2011

Chase the rabbit is very cute, that is until you try to pick her up! Unfortunately my daughter hadn't quite got hold of Chase when she tried to grab her, and here is the evidence.

8 January 2011

Believe me, this photograph is a miracle! For the date to be the 10 January and there to still be a tin's worth of Christmas sweets is unheard of, it actually gives me hope that i may be able to give up or at least cut back on chocolate!

7 January 2011

The days are dull, so time to light some candles, or it could just be that my partner is fitting new lights so to light the room the candels have to be lite.

6 January 2011

Once upon a time a proud embellished tree stood here giving joy to the world. Ok, this is where the Christmas tree used to stand, but now it has gone, which means it's time to clear the house of all things christmassy.

5 January 2011

Yep, the rain is back, so back to the water droplet photos!

4 January 2011

I've been trying to get a reasonably good photograph of one of the Robin's that come into the garden, some of the photos have been better than others, but now i have a photo of the two Robin's together so i am happy.

3 January 2011

Santa, your days are numbered, as soon you will be wrapped back up in some cosy paper or squashy bubble wrap, to wait quitely for me to open it up again in December and put your cheery smile back on the shelf.

2 January 2011

This has got to be one of the best series i have ever seen. Dexter series 1-3 was bought for me as a Christmas present (we had seen series 4 on television without seeing the previous series') by my partner and since we started watching it we have hardly had any sleep. How can you sleep when there is another episode to watch?!

1 January 2011

Happy new year! And what better way to bring in the new year than at the first stroke of Big Ben, you let the fireworks off. Not nearly as inpressive as the fireworks display in London, but a close second.

31 December 2010

Oh to be young again! New year's eve just wouldn't be right without the perfect hairstyle.

30 December 2010

It's cold outside, so what do you do? Have a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmellows in a giant sized Winniw the Pooh mug.

29 December 2010

Yep, the snow is well and truely thawing, everywhere is turning green again, the White Witch must have finally been defeated.

28 December 2010

There has been alot of bird activity in the garden, but now that the snow is thawing, you can finally see the inprints, although some of their trails show that they don't really know which way to go and so they just go round and round!

27 December 2010

My eldest daughter out did herself this year and bought me this Wicked Witch of the West canvas. It is such an amazing picture, i can't wait to put it on the wall!

26 December 2010

The snow is still around, and it is so cold that we have huge icicles. Brrrrrrrrrr.

25 December 2010

It's a white Christmas!! I knew 2010 wouldn't let me down! This photo was taken at 8 in the morning and it even has a pink sky in the background.

24 December 2010

Look closely and you will see a Robin Red Breast in the hedge. This little fellow is incrediably cunning as he knows when i an just about to take a photo of him and flies away. But this time i just about mangaged to get him before he was gone. Hopefully one day though, i will get a really good photo of him rather than a slightly hurried one!

23 December 2010

Lately the snow has fallen in every direction, so much so that it seems that every surface with a slight angle on this church as a layer of snow on it.

22 December 2010

The snow is still here and we are only a few days away from Christmas Day, could it be a white Christmas? I hope so!

21 December 2010

This was one of the decorations from the same range and the porcelain Santa on his sleigh, such beautiful Christmas decorations, i should have bought some more.

20 December 2010

This road leads off from one of the most expensive roads in Leamington. From time to time i drive down this road and back as it is just so nice, and on this day, it looked amazing. What more is there to say.

19 December 2010

The snow has even settled on the berries, a sharpe contrast of red against the white.

18 December 2010

Yep, the snow settled and we are due for even more.

The squirrels haven't run across this fence yet today, perhaps they are just staying somewhere warm today.

17 December 2010

It's snowing, in fact, it looks like a blizzard! We could have that white Christmas after all!!!

16 December 2010

Santa is here!! Ok, so he isn't the real Father Christmas, but this figurine along with the reindeers was bought last Boxing Day after a last minute decision to travel down to London to go to Selfridges in the hope that they may still have some of these figures left. We had originally seen these porcelain figurines, shaped like origami the previous October, but at just short of £100, we couldn't afford it, but then on Boxing Day, not only did we manage to get the last one, we only spent just over £20! Definately worth the trip, especially as we got a number of other decorations from the same range.

15 December 2010

Yesterday it was naked, today it is dressed! There is just something about a decorated Christmas tree that makes a home feel cosy, sparkly and oh, so, Christmassy!

14 December 2010

We finally have a christmas tree, and the smell from it is fantastic, the only problem is that a few ladybirds have made it their winter home, and no matter how hard i try to put them somewhere more appropriate nothing will work.

13 December 2010

This is possibly one of the best Christmas presents i have ever seen! A work colleague brought it in as it has been a present for her 13 year old son from his girlfriend. If she has good taste like this at 13 what will she be like when she is older??!! Now i ust need to find out where she got them from.

12 December 2010

If you haven't seen this film, go and buy a copy now, it has so may twists and turns without loosing its flow, that it is amazing.

11 December 2010

Yes this is a rubbish photo, but out of desperation for my photo of the day, i thought i would experiment with a close up of some grass. No it didn't really work, so no, i won't be trying it again.

10 December 2010

The cold frosty weather had now turned to snow, and everywhere is covered in white. Christmas will be here soon, wouldn't it be nice if it was a white Christmas.

9 December 2010

Recently we discovered we had a mouse in the house, so i bought a humane mouse trap and caught it. Because we had been told that they usually come in pairs, we put it in a box with some hay, water and a biscuit and set the trap again. You've guessed it, the mouse escaped. So after a few days we caught it again and out it in a plastic container, again with some hay, water etc while we waited to catch the other one, you've guessed it, it escaped again, so after another few days we managed to trap it again, and this time pit it in a metal biscuit tin, this time it didn't escape, but we didn't catch the other one either, so we took it a set distance and set it free. A couple of days later a chap knocked at the door with some info about the Wildlife Trust www.wildlifetrusts.org and because of the drama with the mouse we decided to contribute. This is the card (sorry, i can't get the picture to upload the right way round) he left and look, it has a mouse on it!!

8 December 2010

An avid fan when i was younger, The Clothes Show was the highlight of a Sunday. I had wanted to go to the show when i was younger, but never did, and then the reality of life took over and i completely forgot about it, until last year that is. One of my daughters friend's had been to the show with her mum, and this year invited my daughter and i.

i was glad i went, but clearly my days of the clothes show have been and gone, but at least i can say i've been!

7 December 2010

Another very cold day, but the sun is out and the scenery is amazing.
